if you have faith even as small as a grain of mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, move from here to there, and it will move and nothing will be impossible to you. -Matthew 17:20
We are going to have a new women’s group home. WE ARE GOING TO HAVE A NEW WOMEN’S GROUP HOME!
Before the Mustard Seed could address the development of a new group home, two projects needed to be completed. First, a new master land-use plan was needed, a plan with better security and more prudent land use. The plan was drawn and donated by Michael A. Barranco and his firm Barranco Architecture & Interior Design. Second, new infrastructure was needed to remove the campus from the existing series of septic systems and connect the campus to Flowood water and sewerage. During the planning stage of the group home, staff, board and parents met and expressed their vision for the new home. Everyone involved expressed a commitment to the continuation of the family atmosphere and the sense of community that have been staples of the Mustard Seed. A parent survey, mailed to all families, gathered both questions and answers regarding the feasibility of the project and the functions of the group home. Particular emphasis was given to the contribution that new group homes could add to the quality of life of our clients.
The new Women’s Home will be 5917 square feet with six Seedster bedrooms, a group home parent’s quarters, kitchen, gym/multipurpose room, kitchen-living room, weekend relief quarters, laundry, screened porch, and eight bathrooms. All areas of the home are handicapped accessible. The new home will accommodate 10 clients.
